Hummingbird Oval June 2017

In January 2017 we were asked to make a hummingbird oval to be given as a gift in June 2017 for the Most Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of The East Star at its Grand Chapter 2017 meeting in Calgary, Alberta. This oval measured approximately 6 inches wide by 8 inches high.

This oval ended up going to Florida USA.

Butterfly Trio Cluster 2017

Early this year we made this Butterfly Trio Cluster. The top red butterfly was made with Bullseye #1311 Crimson Red, for the bottom left we used a Bullseye # 3346-30 Cranberry Pink, Azure Blue, and for the one in the middle a heads & tails piece of Youghiogheny. This suncatcher measures approximately 6 inches wide by 8 inches high.

Poppies & More Poppies

We were asked by the Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star to make a small boxed poppy to be given away as gifts at the Alberta Grand Chapter meeting in Calgary in early June 2017. They ended up going across Canada and the United States.

The poppies measured approximately 3 inches in diameter. We used Spectrums # 359.1 Red & White Wispy Glass for the petals and Spectrums # 1009 Black Cathedral and # 1009W Black Waterglass.

In total we made 75 of these Poppies.

Unfortunately we forgot to obtain a photograph of a completed one hanging in the sun. The photo shows 8 ground poppies ready for foiling, then soldering and cleaning after the various stages with Kwik Clean, they then had black patina applied along with Clarity Polish.

Canada Geese Circle 2007

We were looking through our 1,000’s of older photos and came across this pair of Canada Geese in a circle pattern. Unfortunately this is the only photograph of the piece that we have. If memory serves us correctly the diameter of the piece was approximately 10 – 12 inches. With the return of spring, lots of Canada Geese make Alberta their home to raise their families in our lakes and sloughs.

Eagles – January 2017

Our Central Alberta clients who originally commissioned these right & left facing eagles, intended on hanging them in their West Country retreat towards the Rocky Mountains of Alberta.

However for now decided to hang them on their living room wall facing each other.

These eagles measured 20 x 20 inches and were designed in stained glass by Paned Expression Studios of Edgewood Maryland USA from an intarsia pattern designed by our clients.

One normally sees stained glass hanging windows, however our clients decided to hang them on their cedar lined living room walls which created a stunning effect.

The first photo is of the left facing eagle, followed by the right facing eagle and the last photo showing them both in our client’s living room.
