Candle Holder Set

Some 10 years ago we made this beveled candle holder set using mirrored glass for the bases wrapped in lead came, 1 inch bevels of various length’s and Spectrum’s green hammered glass. As they were somewhat tricky to put together, black electrical tape helped hold the various pieces in place. Then with spot soldering we secured their positions as well as to each base. Then carefully finished soldering the outside and inside seams,  When working with mirrored glass one needs to put clear nail polish on the reverse side along the edges to be ground, as by doing so prevents the mirror coating from chipping off during grinding. They take time to solder, clean and polish but well worth the effort for this beautiful stained glass candle set.

Garden Lady Bugs June 2014

Everyone likes Lady Bugs and here we have attached them to a 2 ft metal rod for display in your flower beds or garden. These Lady Bugs measure approximately 2.5 x 3 inches. We use #22 gauged tinned wire for their legs, and once finished with black patina, cleaned with Kwik Clean and polished with Clarity Stained Glass Polish, we then paint the black spots on using black nail polish. As with our Garden Butterflies these also gently rock in the wind and withstand very well our Central Alberta summer weather conditions.

Alphabet Floral Letter “B”

Many years ago before we had a digital camera we made some of these Alphabet Letters including the letter “B”. All of flowers used had names of each of the letters in the alphabet and with the letter “B” the respective flower is the Bird of Paradise. With the surrounding glass this letter “B” measured approximately 7.5 inches wide by 9.5 inches high. If memory serves us correctly this one was obtained by our client to be given away as a 50th wedding anniversary gift.

Garden Large Butterflies June 2014

We just made a collection of these large Garden Butterflies. They are approximately 4 x 4 inches in size and are attached to a 2 ft metal rod. As the metal rod provides give in the wind they stand up very well in Alberta’s summer weather conditions and add a wonderful stained glass touch to your flower and garden beds.

Poppy’s Bird House 2013

For our oldest granddaughter Poppy’s 1st Christmas we obtained this Wren/Nuthatch bird house from The Wild Bird Store in Calgary and attached the small stained glass poppy. Poppy’s mom and dad have a large treed back yard in Calgary with lots of many varieties of birds, bird feeders and bird houses. As of last report it appeared that chickadees were moving in/or just helping themselves to nesting material already deposited there. It will be interesting to see who gets to use it.
