Very Old Came Window Restorations

For the past few years we have been working on and still restoring more of these old came windows. We just wanted to give you a hint of what we have been doing with these old came window reconstructions, and down the road we will have  lots of pictures and their unique stories. Some of these windows are over 100 years old and the pictures below show the windows before being restored.

Poppy’s Bird House 2013

For our oldest granddaughter Poppy’s 1st Christmas we obtained this Wren/Nuthatch bird house from The Wild Bird Store in Calgary and attached the small stained glass poppy. Poppy’s mom and dad have a large treed back yard in Calgary with lots of many varieties of birds, bird feeders and bird houses. As of last report it appeared that chickadees were moving in/or just helping themselves to nesting material already deposited there. It will be interesting to see who gets to use it.

Wrens – Spring 2014

These 4 Wrens are now available at The Wild Bird Store in Calgary. The measure approximately 4 inches by 4.5 inches and we used mostly Spectrum Glass, also 16 gauge tinned wire was used for the branch and the Wren legs.

Blue Bird – Tree Swallow Bird Houses – Ryley & Brady

For Christmas 2013 we purchased these bird houses from The Wild Bird Store in Calgary. After staining the outside of each we fabricated and attached a small stained glass design of a Blue Bird/Tree Swallow, along with a name plate so both boys would be able to keep track of their bird houses and new residents. Recently they and their dad put up these bird houses and more pictures can be found on their mom’s picture blog at the following link.

Red Breasted Nuthatches – Spring 2014

These Red Breasted Nuthatches measure approximately 5.5 inches x 5.5 inches. We used Spectrum’s Black/White/Clear, along with their Thunderhead glass, and a reddish orange for the body. These were just shipped to The Wild Bird Store in Calgary and are available from them. Nuthatches can be found across Canada in our spring, summer to fall months.
